Topics will include: Six areas of Board responsibility and best practices Setting Vision and Planning Oversight and accountability Roles and responsibilities of board members and CEOs Performance & Evaluation Questions to prompt transformational thinking at board meetings This program is specifically designed to help develop the governance function of nonprofit Boards of Directors, and thereby the long-term community impact of the nonprofit organizations themselves. A trained governance consultant who will take the organization through hands-on learning based on nationally accepted best practices. Wednesday, January 11 - 9:00 a - 11:00 a Wilmington (TBD) INSTRUCTOR: JENNIFER JAUFFRET Employment law continues to change both at the federal and State Level.  In addition to new federal regulations, Delaware passed some of new anti-discrimination laws in 2016.  Join Jennifer Jauffret, Director at Richards, Layton & Finder, P.A. to learn more about new federal and state law laws, including the FLSA, Title VII (including LGBT and pregnancy updates), new Protected Classes under Delaware Anti-discrimination laws (including reproductive health decisions, family caregiver responsibilities and victim protection), and Delaware’s Wage Disclosure law.  In addition to learning the nuances of the laws and implications to nonprofit employers, we will discuss ways to inform and incorporate these new regulations into employee communications.

A recent study of 102 nonprofit organizations that have received the Standards for Excellence accreditation compared with peer organizations of similar size and industry examined the impact of acquiring the certification. Significant findings include: The accredited organizations exhibit tangible benefits from participating in the Standards for Excellence program The accreditation process is associated with an increase direct public support Research Supporting Accreditation
